Seasons

.

Artwork Ann Baranowski copyright 2011

Human pain does not let go of its grip at one point in time.
Rather, it works its way out of our consciousness over time.
There is a season of sadness. A season of anger.
A season of tranquility.
A season of hope.

The Future

.

Artwork copyright Ann Baranowski 2011

The future has many names.
For the weak it is unattainable.
For the fearful it is the unknown.
For the bold it is opportunity.

Peace

.

 .
It's God's job to Forgive and it's my job to Heal.
I ask God and the Divine to help me do both.
Dear God, please show me The Way.
Bring peace to our hearts and peace to the world.
Amen.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction....The chain reaction of evil--hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars--must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.

Martin Luther King, Jr., Strength To Love, 1963.

It may be true that the law cannot make a man love me, but it can keep him from lynching me, and I think that's pretty important.

Martin Luther King, Jr., Wall Street Journal, November 13, 1962.

How to recover from Narcissists (Ns)

.

artwork by Aridi

1. Detaching from the Ns/emotional vampires/parasites
2. Seeing your own issues honestly
3. Making healthy changes and working on healing pro-actively
4. Creating and maintaining a good life
5. This means creating and sustaining a loving inner parent.

"I really respect that and think those are the steps that work the best...

There is one more step and it is way harder than expected for adult children of narcissists. It's creating and maintaining a good life. It's an automatic reflex to abandon oneself to others and hard to come into one's own life, truly, bring joy into one's life and thrive. It means creating and sustaining a loving inner parent.
Do you know what I mean?

Seeing the wounded inner child is one step,
caring for one's inner child/inner adult/inner parent is another step.

Reparenting oneself is an ongoing process, which means many things,

including becoming a healthy adult, inner and outer."

written by Victoria Smitter Barlow (although it's easier for some people to write about this than to do it)

This is what all we codependents need to practice and follow.
Sounds simple, and it's not easy, but all is POSSIBLE.
With Patience, Practice and Prayer.
Dear God, please show me The Way.

Humor & Gravity

.
Artwork Copyright Ann Baranowski 2011

Humor is the only test of gravity, and gravity of humor;
for a subject which will not bear raillery is suspicious,
and a jest which will not bear serious examination is false wit.

The Looking-Glass of Life

 .
If your heart were sincere and upright,
every creature would be unto you a looking-glass of life
and a book of holy doctrine.

Thomas à Kempis

Thomas à Kempis (c. 1380 – 25 July 1471) was a late Medieval Catholic monk
and the probable author of The Imitation of Christ, which is one of the best known Christian books on devotion.

Life on the Frontier: the Story of a Soul

I have lived on the frontier for most of my life, born with feet in two worlds;
between the beginning and the end & the living and the dead
I can hardly tell the difference some times.
Death holds no fear for me; it's living that's hard sometimes.

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

The Lower Self

The lower self does not want anyone
to receive anything from anybody else,
and if it is aware of something receiving a special boon,
it seeks to destroy it.

Essential Sufism (1997) by James Fadiman and Robert Frager

Whatever possessions and objects of its desires
the lower self may obtain,
it hangs on to them, refusing to let them go out of greed for more,
or out of fear of poverty and need.

Diggin' Up Bones

.
Digging Through Bones.Terokkar Forest
Song by Randy Travis, lyrics posted by Kayla Wilson Clark (let's see, I think I'm in tune here:
"I'm diggin' up bones, i'm diggin' up bones
Exhuming things that's better left alone
I'm resurrecting memories of a love that's dead and gone
Yeah tonight i'm sittin' alone diggin' up bones."
