Truth and Perceived Truth
.
"I agree with you about truths and perceived truths, just like with our estrangements. Everyone experiences things in their own way, and then their perceptions and misconceptions become their reality. And that's why it's so hard for any resolutions or reconciliations to occur (especially long term) and especially without professional help, courts of law, etc.
P.M. / K.A.
"positive reassurances aren't so helpful, if they are part of mixed messages."
Obviously "truth" is meaningless to some people. They would rather
blame someone, some thing, some time or some place: anything other than
themselves. I have been the recipient of this all my life. And there is
nothing I can do about it
but live my life "to the best of my ability."
but live my life "to the best of my ability."
Dear God please show me The Way.

How to live magnificently in this world
.
One can live
magnificently in this world if one knows how to work and how to love. ~ Leo Tolstoy
I don't know how to do either, but it's good to read it here.

Desiderata by Max Ehrmann 1927

Desiderata by Max Ehrmann 1927, text & info
.
Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and
haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as
your plans.
Keep interested in your career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals;

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be critical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the
years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no
less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy.

Desiderata (Latin: "desired things") is a 1927 prose poem by American writer Max Ehrmann. Largely unknown in the author's lifetime, the text became widely known after its use in a devotional, subsequently being found at Adlai Stevenson's deathbed in 1965, and after spoken-word recordings in 1971 and 1972. ...
American writer Max Ehrmann (1872–1945) wrote the prose poem Desiderata in 1927.[1] In 1956, the Reverend Frederick Kates, rector of Saint Paul's Church in Baltimore, Maryland, included Desiderata in a compilation of devotional materials for his congregation. The compilation included the church's foundation date: "Old Saint Paul's Church, Baltimore A.D. 1692." Consequently, the date of the text's authorship was (and still is) widely mistaken as 1692, the year of the church's foundation.[1][2]
When Adlai Stevenson died in 1965, a guest in his home found the Desiderata near his bedside and discovered that Stevenson had planned to use it in his Christmas cards. Subsequently, the poem became widely known.[1]
The text was widely distributed in poster form. Calling it “Spock Thoughts”, Leonard Nimoy recited the poem on his 1967 album, “Leonard Nimoy Presents Mr. Spock’s Music from Outer Space”. His rendition is not the only one to change the 2nd to last sentence from “Be Cheerful” to “Be Careful”.

Mask, by Margaret Anne Keller
.
"Mask" At heart I
am a stricken thing--you would not think so, would you? And if you looked for
such deceit--you could not find it, could you? For I have clothed my heart in
mirth with brilliant colors flying. But deep inside my funny heart, a little
child is crying. ~ Margaret Anne Keller

Digging Graves

Digging Graves
6/15/11
I am so sick of hearing "there is no point in dwelling on
it" as if the ghosts of the past don't exist and don't haunt us in
unconscious and conscious ways. These very same people go on to express anger
and grief and do everything in their power to keep the lid on the coffin... Sitting there having a glass of wine, drinking a beer or smoking a joint and
saying "What coffin? I'm sitting on my couch!"
I WILL lay these ghost to rest. Once and for all, they will be
recognized for who and what they are, with their hurts angers resentments and
fears from the past... They will be given a PROPER BURIAL.
I spent twenty years on a mountain and in the desert on an
archeological dig. Now I am digging graves. It's time to lay all of of this to
rest.
DEAR GOD SHOW ME THE WAY.

Trust in God
.
Put your trust in God
for support and see His hidden hand
working through all sources.
Bowl of Saki, August 24, by Hazrat Inayat Khan
|
| Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan: The one thing to rely upon is God's favor. Do not build either on your study or on your meditation, although they both help you. But you are dependent on God, not even on your murshid. Seek Him, trust Him. In Him lies your life's purpose, and in Him is hidden the rest of your soul. ~~~ "Classes for Mureeds, Mureedship", by Hazrat Inayat Khan (unpublished) Man's greatest privilege is to become a suitable instrument of God, and until he knows this he has not realized his true purpose in life. The whole tragedy in the life of man is his ignorance of this fact. From the moment a man realizes this, he lives the real life, the life of harmony between God and man. When Jesus Christ said, 'Seek ye first the kingdom of God,' this teaching was an answer to the cry of humanity: some crying, 'I have no wealth,' others crying, 'I have no rest,' others crying, 'My situation in life is difficult,' My friends are troubling me,' or, 'I want a position, wealth.' The answer to them all is, 'Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you.' from http://wahiduddin. |

Refuse to Stay Down
Refuse to fall down.
If you cannot refuse to fall down,
If you cannot refuse to stay down,
lift your heart toward heaven,
and like a hungry beggar,
ask that it be filled, and it will be filled.
You may be pushed down.
You may be kept from rising.
But no one can keep you from
lifting your heart toward heaven.
